One of the highlights of the Wigtown book festival this year was the exchange between Carlo Gebler and Erwin James. Carlo is writer in residence at Maghaberry prison in Northern Ireland and Erwin is a convicted lifer who became a columnist for the Guardian while still serving his sentence.
